During the first year, each student has to take 120 credits-worth of modules, in total. In giving you a solid foundation in your intended ‘Honours’ subject(s), the first year also offers some scope either to try out subjects which you may not have had the opportunity to study before or to continue to study one or two subjects which you have already been enjoying and which could add greater breadth to your Politics/IR degree or be useful to include on your CV. For ‘Single Honours’ Politics or International Relations students, modules adding up to either 60 or 80 credits must be taken in Politics and International Relations, while the other 60 or 40 credits (depending on how many you take in Politics and International Relations) will be chosen from those offered by other departments.
For ‘Joint Honours’ Politics or International Relations students, modules adding up to either 40 or 60 credits must be taken in Politics or International Relations, while the other 80 or 60 credits (depending on how many you take in Politics and International Relations) will be chosen those offered by from other departments. |
