MA in Contemporary Conflict
The MA Degree in Contemporary Conflict offers advanced study in contemporary global politics, providing students with a detailed understanding of the role of conflict in the international system, in conflict resolution and the linkages between humanitarian and military action.
The MA in Contemporary Conflict includes compulsory training elements in research skills and approaches, and two core courses covering key concepts and ideas about war and conflict. There is a particular focus on the causes and impact of war and conflict, particularly the politics of conflict, the reporting of war, and the developmental impact. Students also choose two specialist courses that reflect the research interests of the Department staff. The degree is completed with the submission of a dissertation. The dissertation allows students to design a research project of their own which draws on issues and themes explored throughout the year.
The MA is available as a full-time degree programme (1 year) and as a part-time degree programme (minimum of two years).
