Career Biography
Roland is Head of the Department and he joined the Department in 2005, having previously held a post as Reader at the University of Aberdeen.

Research
Roland is a leading specialist in the study of democracy, globalization and macro-political change and has published widely in these areas. He is currently working on two projects: 'Reconceptualising the political
in the current era of global change' and 'Political thought in Germany in the 20th century'.

Recent publications include:
